Why did you apply for an internship at OERA?
I applied for an internship at OERA because of my educational background in a Master of Public Administration program and experience in a government policy setting, specifically that of Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment. Being able to work in the field of energy and renewables was a huge draw for me as I wanted to learn more about Nova Scotia’s efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

What projects were you involved in during your internship?
During my internship at OERA I was able to work on research projects looking at the climate mitigation policies and strategies of the Atlantic provinces. I created a report outlining these policies and the situation in each province as well as recommendations for OERA to follow up on.

What have you enjoyed most about your internship with OERA?
I enjoyed learning about methods of climate change mitigation and what the Atlantic provinces are doing to reach their 2050 net-zero carbon emissions goals. Being from Nova Scotia, it was valuable to me to be able to research and understand what my home province is doing to combat climate change.

Any words of advice for the future OERA interns?
Don’t hesitate to ask your co-workers questions or interact with them! They are all very helpful and want to see you succeed and grow during you time at OERA.
